Wolverines Looking To Continue Impressive Run Against Badgers

Way back at the beginning of the season, the Michigan Wolverines had aspirations of heading to the national championship game, but after two games, those dreams were crushed as they lost both.

Then came the Notre Dame game and the joke was that one of the two teams had to win the game, and the loser was in for one of the longest seasons in either of their existence.

Michigan won that game, and they have not lost since, now they are the number 12 team in the country and are facing a struggling Badger team today in Wisconsin.

Both teams are still looking to win the Big Ten, but the loser of this game will fall far behind, and if Michigan can come away with a win, they will be eyeing a late season showdown with hated rival Ohio State that could mean the conference title.

The Wolverines must be careful of overlooking this weeks game and focusing on the Buckeyes because the Badgers are more than capable of pulling the upset.

The game will be shown on ESPN and kickoff is at high noon in Wisconsin. The line is Michigan -2.5 and the total on the game is 46.5.

College Football Wagering Hinging On Mountaineers And Cardinals

The game between the Louisville Cardinals and the West Virginia Mountaineers was one that ESPN was salivating over before the season started, but now the Cardinals have been a huge disappointment, and the game carries less meaning.

Louisville was picked by some to compete for a national championship this season, but that will not be the case as they have played poorly after losing their former head coach Bobby Petrino to the NFL.

West Virginia also was a favorite to get to Miami for the title game, and although they lost early, they still are clinging to hopes they can run the table and have a shot at playing in the national title game.

After the disappointment this season has brought to the Cardinals, nothing would lift their spirits more than ending the Mountaineers chances of playing in the Orange Bowl.

The betting line on the game is West Virginia -16, and the total is 64. The game will be shown live on ESPN.

West Virginia And Missouri Headed To BCS Title Game With Wins Today

When the conference championships take place this weekend, there will be plenty of pressure on several teams who are trying to secure their spots in BCS bowl games.

The Missouri Tigers are coming off an emotional victory over Kansas last week. They have no time to rest, however, after securing their place in today’s Big Twelve championship game.

Oklahoma, the only team to beat the Tigers this year, will be their opponent. The Sooners are the last obstacle for the Tigers to clear on their way to a shot at the national title. A loss, though, could knock Missouri clear out of a BCS bowl game.

LSU and Tennessee will be squaring off in the SEC title game. A similar circumstance surrounds this game. The winner will be headed to a BCS game, while the loser will be sent packing to a lesser bowl.

This week, LSU gave permission to Michigan to speak with their head coach, Les Miles, about the Wolverines vacant coaching position. The game today will tell if the speculation has hurt the focus of the Tigers.

Missouri will be playing in prime time for the second week in a row, and if they can handle the pressure as they did last week, they will head to the national title game as the #1 team in the country.

West Virginia can secure their spot in the title game with a win over Pittsburgh. The game is not a conference title game, but it still serves as such for the Mountaineers due to the championship implications.

World Series

Wagering On World Series Focuses On Prop Bets

The World Series is a grueling event for gamblers of baseball, possibly seven games, spread out over a week and a half, and for the worst of gamblers, the day after day action could prove devastating.

There is some relief, though, for the gambler who wants to try their luck on something more than picking a winner or loser, prop bets.

No, not the extensive list of prop bets that the Super Bowl has, bets such as who will win the coin toss, but prop bets on the actual games themselves.

Odds are available on who will hit the first home run of the World Series, with the favorites being David Ortiz, Manny Ramirez, and Matt Holliday, all at 5-1 odds. The long shot is Jacoby Ellsbury at 18-1.

The MVP race will come down to Josh Beckett and Holiday according to the odds, with Beckett being 5-1, and Holiday 5.5-1.

Anyone thinking that one team is superior to the other, can put their money on a series sweep at 3.8 to 1, and they can also gamble on whether one team will win three straight games, the odds say they will not.

Then, of course, there is every combination of team wins, from Boston in four through seven, with varying odds, to the Rockies in four through seven games.

The games themselves will draw interest because the Red Sox are there, and the Rockies are somewhere they have never been, but for gamblers, they will be back at that familiar spot, watching and hoping that they made the correct picks in their prop bets.
